Kenyans have 30 days to submit their view on CBC, taskforce says
Education stakeholders ranging from teachers, students and parent will get a chance to submit their views on the competency based curriculum (CBC) within the next one-month.
The views will be submitted to the 42 member taskforce assembled by President William Ruto.
Chaired by Professor Raphael Manavu, the taskforce has begun collecting views from all interested members of the public and will tour the country in an effort to achieve maximum public participation.
“The views should be submitted in form of written letters and or research paper and should be addressed to the chairperson of the reforms team and hand-delivered to their office on the 10th Floor of Absa Towers, Loita Street, Nairobi, or by email or post,” she said.
The CBC has elicited mixed reactions since its inception to the general public with many calling for its removal and reinstatement of the 8-4-4 curriculum, while other being in support of it.
However, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said that the CBC will not be done away but will be tweaked a little through with the recommendation of the task force.
The taskforce was appointed by the President on September 29 and given six months within which to work and submit its recommendations.
It is, however, expected to issue Ruto with progress reports every two months.
