Police gun down two suspected armed robbers in Kiambu

Police have gunned down two suspected armed robbers in Thogoto area in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

The suspects are said to be part of a notorious gang behind carjacking and harassment of motorists along the Southern bypass.

According to the officers, the two were among a gang of three; the third suspect managed to escape.

The police recovered weapons among them a panga.

A manhunt has since been launched for the remaining suspect.

Early this week, a teenager aged 15 years old and other three robbery with violence suspects were arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation(DCI) detectives armed with machetes along the southern bypass.

According to DCI, they were arrested as they prepared to stage attacks against motorists.

Brian Mwangi and Nickson Muchiri aged 25, were arrested following a well executed operation, mounted by Langata based Police Officers.

“A third suspect aged 15, was also arrested as he fled to the nearby Ngong forest, in a bid to evade arrest,” stated DCI.

The police officers impounded two motorbikes used by the criminals as their getaway means.

Their arrest follows a spate of attacks that have been staged against motorists, along the busy highway.
