One Kenya Alliance principals hailed Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua’s leadership noting that she was the only leader fit to lead the vote-rich Mt Kenya region after President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking during a campaign tour at the Kerugoya grounds Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Kanu chairman Gideon Moi and United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Cyrus Jirongo, said Karua bore the qualities of a leader who would deliver.
“We have a strong person who will help steer this country to greater height of success,” Jirongo said.
She has so far graced rallies at Machakos Town and in Kirinyaga County.
However, Karua threw a spanner in the works when she hinted the possibility of taking on a national role in the upcoming election saying the details would be made public in the next six weeks.
She criticized the framing of the presidential race as a two-horse race indicating United Democratic Alliance (UDA) William Ruto on one hand and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Odinga on the other hand, saying Kenyans will choose from a wider menu of leaders.
“The two-horse race is a theory is a creation of the media. The fifth president of Kenya will be from OKA,” she said.
She exuded confidence that OKA will produce Kenya’s fifth president, exciting the audience which included Wiper and Kanu politicians and hundreds of their supporters.
Karua entered the OKA fray a week after Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula walked out of the coalition and joined Deputy President William Ruto who is also in the race to succeed Kenyatta.
