Alarm has been raised over increased cases of bilharzia that have been reported in the drought hit counties of Kilifi and Kwale counties.
Health officials from the two counties say dozens of people have become infected through direct contact with contaminated water where certain types of water snail live, because the snails carry the worm.
The infection occurs when people swim, wash, or paddle in water, from drinking it or eating food that has been washed in untreated water.
The situation in the counties has been worsened by the ongoing nurses strike.
