CJ Koome reveal plans to establish 100 Small Claims Courts in urban areas, border towns

Chief Justice Martha Koome has disclosed plans to establish 100 Small Claims Courts in urban areas and border towns in the next five years.

During a courtesy call paid to her by the Danish Ambassador Ole Thonke and Ambassador of Sweden Caroline Vicini, Koome said that the move is to ensure that commercial disputes are resolved efficiently.

According to Koome, a key priority area of collaboration is rolling out Sexual Gender Based Violence courts across the country.

A special focus will be drawn on establishing trauma informed court rooms and training of Judiocial Officers on SGBV sensitive handling of cases.

The CJ also said that the Judiciary is keen on embracing green justice especially green energy initiatives and being a regional leader in green jurisprudence.
