President Uhuru Kenyatta re-election bid got a major boost from Ukambani yesterday after 22 clans backed him vowing to vigorously campaign for win to garner over one million votes from the region.
Over 500 leaders of the clans who met in a Kitui hotel endorsed Kenyatta’s second term presidential bid saying the community has gained little during its stay in the opposition.
Speakers during the meeting attended by national officials of Kamba Council of Elders praised the head of state for cash transfer fund for the elderly which the county is the highest beneficiary with 14,700 senior citizens benefiting.
The elders resolved to support the government of the day and mount a united front to ensure that Kenyatta gets another term so as to complete development projects his administration has initiated in the county.
