Martha Karua move to East African Court to challenge President Ruto win

Narc Kenya leader, Martha Karua who was also the then presidential running mate to Azimio One Kenya flagbearer Raila Odinga in the recent held elections, has moved to the East African Court of Justice in Tanzania to dispute the Supreme Court ruling on the contested presidential results.

Karua alongside the Muslim for Human Rights Group filed the petition yesterday in Arusha.

In the petition, Karua is contesting the court’s ruling that backed Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson, Wafula Chebukati, in declaring that Ruto had won the presidential election.

Karua stated in September that she could not believe they had lost and was considering taking the case to the East African Court.

“Right now, it’s not about the election; it’s about justice. The court said our argument was a hot air balloon; this might send me to East Africa only to talk about that ruling,” she had said.

“However, given the court’s ruling, Kenya should proceed and move forward since that upholds the rule of law and democracy,” she added.

Additionally, she is on record for publicly stating that she does not recognise Ruto as the country’s President.
