Detectives attached to Kayole Police division are hunting for an armed group linked to a spate of armed robberies targeting motorists and pedestrians in the area.
The gang of five escaped a police dragnet after forcibly robbing and shot a man on his neck leaving him for dead at Mihang’o area on Thursday night. “The incident occurred at 8pm.
“Members of the public raised distress call. On arriving at the scene, police officers found the unknown man lying unconscious with serious bullet injuries on the right side of his neck and blood oozing to the ground.”
A police report says. He was rushed to Mama Lucy hospital for emergency treatment. Scene of Crime detectives found spent cartridges of 9mm calibre at the scene. Police in Kayole are grappling to crackdown the notorious Gaza proscribed criminal sect comprising of young but lethal youths and teenagers known for indiscriminate stabbing of their victims.
These groups have been associated with prostitution, robbery, rape, sodomy cases, drug trafficking and abuse, kidnappings and armed carjacking.
Currently, the outlawed groupings stand at 46 up from 33 in 2010 notably Mungiki, Taliban, Kamjesh, Sungu Sungu, Mombasa republican Council, Angola Msumbiji, 42 brothers, Al Ahabaab, land Lord, siafu-10 among others.
And in Pangani, a thirty years old man collapsed and died while walking. According to witness account, Jospeh Kamau was seen staggering and suddenly fell unconscious. Police took his body to City Mortuary for postmortem analysis to establish the actual cause of death.
