Buru Buru Girls closed after dormitory fire, probe commences

Buru Buru Girls School administration has allowed the students to go home for a few days as investigations commence to know the cause of yesterday fire.

The school’s Board of Management Chairman Lazarus Opicho announced the decision to close the after a meeting with parents today.

“Parents will be allowed to go home with the girls and the date when they are supposed to come back will be communicated,” he told the parents.

However, the school’s administration warned any girl who will be found to be have been involved in the fire incident will face the law.

Currently, 19 students are admitted to Metropolitan hospital while 16 others are at the Jamaa Hospital.

According to information on the hospital twitter handle, thirty others were also treated at the same facility and discharged.

School principal Carol Maina, said the school has 45 cubicles and only one caught fire during the incident.

“There were 10 students in the cubicle and they have been taken to hospital for treatment,” she said.

Chaotic scenes were witnessed at the schools as parents arrived at the institution to check on their children following a dormitory fire.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear, but an investigation has been launched.
