Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has unveiled a development dream team comprising of technocrats and county ministers to spearhead development projects in the county.

Besides the County Executive Committee Members (CECs), charged to develop departmental policies, Kimemia has brought on board experts from World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and lead investors in the country as part of his core team.

“I want us to leverage on synergies of teamwork. We are now operating in borderless economies and therefore we must be a more focused team going forward. I want a very high caliber of ministers in Nyandarua County. We must raise the bar to international standards and have a government that resonates with the people.” Kimemia said.

He spoke during the official closure of a weeklong training seminar of county ministers at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) Lower Kabete in Nairobi.

The governor and the former Head of Public Service during the former President Mwai Kibaki’s regime said all county employees including ministers will serve on contract performance terms.

The staff members in lower cadres and support team will have a working plan evaluated every month.

“Poverty levels in Nyandarua are very high and we cannot afford to be unresponsive. We must have a result-oriented government. All ministers are on performance contracts. We must measure work against results.” Kimemia affirmed.

Among the prioritised Rapid Result Initiative (RRI) tasks, Kimemia said a taskforce on pending bills will be formed and a new committee to undertake audit in the county registry, land development plans and human resource.

Further, forensic analysisng of all payments and projects will commence from next week and headcount of all county employees undertaken mind next month.

The Informer has learnt the Ministry of Interior has approved creation of additional six sub counties within Nyandarua to have a total of 13 sub count.
