The World Health Organization (WHO) has donated a consignment of screening and preventive gears worth Sh2 million to the Kitale County Referral Hospital to prevent the spread of marburg from neighbouring country, Uganda.
While receiving the consignment in Kitale town today, The County Chief officer of health Dr Maurice Wakwabubi,the County Chief Officer of Health said that another consignment will bearriving in the course of next week.
Dr Wakwabubi noted that already a team of health personnel together with officials from WHO are carrying out sensitization forums in the community about marburg.
Trans Nzoia deputy governor Dr Stanley Taurus thanked WHO saying by lending hand to the administration,thousands of lives will be served.
“The fight against the spread of murburg needs a collaborative efforts between stakeholders and we want to thank WHO for moving in as this will boost our capacity in the area of disease prevention, ” said Taurus.
