The search and recovery for the ill-fated chopper which crashed into Lake Nakuru three weeks ago intensified today with divers optimistic of recovering the three remaining bodies.
National Disaster Management Unit’s deputy director Mr Pius Masai today said the operation is still on course adding that the mission is still open to any expert who wishes to join.
According to him, no other bodies has been recovered in the past week save from personal documents and clothes belonging to John Mapozi which was recovered floating on the water.
“We have not made any recoveries in the past week, but we are optimistic of recovering the remaining bodies and the plane wreck, the operation is open to any expert who wishes to assist in the mission,” he said.
Masai pointed out the slowness of the operation to poor visibility in the lake due to dirty water, a wide search area, and presence of wild animals among others calling for calmness among the families.
