The Kikuyu Council of Elders has called on the youth to be cautious of politicians could be out to divide them during the campaign period.
Speaking after holding special traditional prayers with youth and business stake holders in Narok town, the elders pointed out that youth have always been misled by politicians to start violence during elections.
The elders led by the council’s patron Retired Captain, Kungu Muigai called on the youth to refrain from indulging in alcohol. Muigai called on the youth to maintain peace during and after elections.
Muigai stated that the country’s economy relies heavily on peace adding that no one should compromise peace for the sake of votes.
James Mburu the chairman Narok Branch stated that the youth have now been educated and will not be misled to perpetrate violence in Narok unlike in the past.
He noted that leaders will be elected on their manifesto. He also called on the youth to vote wisely and peacefully.
The youth who attended the ceremony made an assurance that they will not be drugged into disturbing peace.
