A bodaboda operator was today morning murdered and his motorcycle stolen as two suspected bodaboda thieves were accosted by operators and beaten to death.
The murdered operator was hired by a passenger as usual who wanted to be taken to Ciciliah Village in the outskirts of Nanyuki only for him to turn against the rider.
He was killed on the spot and his motorcycle stolen. His colleagues who were with him at night, tried to reach him on his mobile phone in vain and launched a search, only to find him dead this morning.
The killers are yet to be established and the motorcycle is still at large. Meanwhile angry bodaboda operators from the town today morning accosted two suspected thieves and beat them to death.
The two are said to be in a gang of thugs terrorizing the operators at night after they were found with a stolen motorbike.
According to residents cases of insecurity especially related to motorcycle theft are on the increase where operators are murdered and their cycles stolen.
Nominated MCA Cate Waruguru however urged residents to be cautious on dealing with criminals and called on them to let the police do their job. Waruguru urged youths to learn to work and forget leaping from where they did not sow.
