The sharp increase in the number of accidents along the Thika super highway has been attributed to drunk driving.
National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) officers together with police have promised to launch a major a crackdown on drunk driving on the said road.
Thika west Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Tom Anjere together with the NTSA regional manager John Parteroi, Thika traffic police and other security officials met today to discuss the issue.
The meeting came barely a week after a grisly road accident happened at Ndarugo area of Juja sub-county where four young men died on the spot. The accident was attributed to drunk driving.
“It has come to our attention that there is an increase of accidents mostly during the weekends along Thika Super Highway and are caused by drunk drivers, we cannot allow this to happen and that is why our officers will launch a serious crackdown,” said Parteroi.
