The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has expressed regret after commissioner Roselyn Akombe resigned seven days to the repeat presidential election.
“We regret the resignation of commissioner Dr Akombe. We will provide more details in due course,” the commission said in its official Twitter account.
In a press briefing at Bomas of Kenya on Wednesday, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said he will not resign.
“I know there are elements who would love nothing more than to hear me announce my resignation at this point.
“In reality, that will be the easier thing to do, but we all have to put Kenya first and that is why I am determined to make this commission work,” he said.
