National Aids Control Council (NACC) has challenged the County governments and non- governmental organisations to adopt swift prevention measures to tame the rising numbers of HIV/Aids new infections amongst the youth and young adults in the Country.
Council chief executive officer Dr Nduku Kilonzo stressed the need for strategic and targeted HIV/Aids programmes to arrest the scourge especially among the youth.
She said only through a focused approach that the country can achieve the United Nations recommended 75 per cent reduction of new infections by the year 2020.
“If we do not reduce the new infections globally by the year 2025 as recommended by UNAids, we are going to face a resurgence of HIV/Aids epidemic,” said Kilonzo.
She urged the implementing partners to make heavy investments on HIV prevention outside the health facilities.
