The immigration department has denied claims that NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka was temporarily blocked from leaving the country for Uganda.
Gideon Kihalangwa, director Immigration Services, said the claims by Opposition leader Raila Odinga on the same were false.
He said the former vice president was not at any time stopped from exiting the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
“Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang’ula were at the airport at 10.30am. They exited from Unit 1A. The two were not any point stopped by immigration officers.”
In a statement on Thursday, Kihalangwa said Kalonzo’s PA presented the NASA deputy presidential candidates’ papers for clearance without any hitches.
He said this was a usual procedure at the airport hence had nothing with an attempt to block the leaders.
“At about 1050hrs, Hon Kalonzo called me personally to establish whether he need any clearance. I categorically told him no and he said its okay,” Kihalangwa said.
The official added that the two leaders departed at 1105am without any hitch.
