Property of unknown value was destroyed in a dormitory fire at a school in Kabondo Kasipul constituency on Friday afternoon.
Learners of Wang’apala Boys’ Secondary School were in their classes at the time.
“None of the them was injured,” said sub-county education director Samuel Nyantika.
Nyantika told The Star the cause of the fire and the value of property lost were not established immediately.
The administration at the Homa Bay school said their primary focus is finding accommodation for affected students.
In Bomet county on Friday night, classrooms went up in flames at Tenwek High School.
Administrators said they did not know the cause.
Cases of school fires have resurfaced, months after dormitories and other property were razed in a series of such incidents last year.
Nine students of Moi Girls School in Nairobi died in a fire at one of their dormitories on the night of September 2.
Education CS Fred Matiang’i said this was an arson and that the culprits will be found and punished.
The parents of a student linked to the tragedy said she was framed.
