The newly posted Officer Commanding Nguutani police station, Migwani Sub-County, Simon Mugira has been relieved of his duties after he attempted to shoot a 20-year old man outside a bar on Sunday night.
Chief Inspector Mugira, who was posted to the station two weeks ago, is said to have spent the whole night drinking at Nguutani trading centre before committing the offense.
According to witnesses and police records at Migwani Police Station, the officer was moving out of the bar in the early hours of the material day when he bumped into one David Kilonzo who was fetching water and attempted to shoot him.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, Migwani OCPD Julius Muu said, “Mugira fired one round of 9mm from his Jericho Ceska pistol S/No 43370744 issued to him on September 16, 2017 aiming to shoot the boy but he managed to escape unhurt.”
Thereafter, the OCS went and locked himself in his rented house in Nguutani where he was later arrested and his firearm confiscated by the police who responded to the shooting incident.
