IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has bowed to pressure and, for the second time, ordered the suspension of ICT Director James Muhati for allegedly failing to discharge his constitutional mandate.
Also to be forced on leave by IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba are the commission’s ICT Coordinator Paul Mugo and ICT Manager Boniface Wamae.
Mr Muhati is among 11 individuals the opposition National Super Alliance (Nasa) wants removed from the commission for allegedly bungling the August 8 General Election.
The ICT chief had been suspended earlier on for allegedly failing to cooperate in the audit of IEBC systems in the run-up to the August 8 poll.
He was replaced by Mr Chris Msando, who was murdered by unknown people a few days to the high-stakes election that was nullified by the Supreme Court.
