National Assembly Speaker has called on newly elected members of parliament to desist from squabbling and instead consolidate their democratic gains by steering the country towards economic growth and social development.
Muturi urged MPs from both sides of the political divide to cultivate a good working relationship and desist from being dissuaded by political allegiance.
The Speaker told members not to allow differences ahead of the impending fresh presidential elections distraught their work.
“We are all aware of the impending fresh presidential elections and the after effect it is having on participation in the House. I am encouraged by the determination and the resolve exhibited by many of us and I look forward to better times ahead,” Muturi told members after opening a five-day Induction workshop for the MPs.
Muturi told the MPs to use the retreat familiarize themselves on their mandate and the tasks that lie ahead of them and equip them with skills for effective execution.
