Members of parliament from western Kenya today warned opposition leader Raila Odinga that they will not allow him to hound out of office Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chief executive Ezra Chiloba.
The fifteen MPs most of them allied to Jubilee party and affiliates from the region, said they were dismayed by the constant attacks by the Nasa coalition towards Chiloba.
“Let the world here today that Chiloba is going nowhere. We will do everything within our means to defend him,” said Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East).
They said they were concerned that the attacks have been extended to commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati and James Muhati who is in charge of ICT, both of whom are from their region.
“The malicious and selective mob lynching by the Nasa coalition targeting IEBC members from the western region is unacceptable,” stated a statement read out during a press conference at parliament buildings by Kimilili Mp Didmus Barasa.
The lawmakers accused the opposition of being selective in the attack on the electoral commission, questioning why Commissioner Roselyn Akombe who is in charge of operations has not been named.
