A watchman was on Monday night killed by thugs who raided Kolunga Primary School in Nyando, Kisumu county.
Otung’ Lusi as hacked to death and his body found dumped in a standard eight classroom.
Head teacher David Owili said pupils who reported for early morning preps found the body in a pool of blood.
After murdering the watchman, the attackers took computers, a projector and four tablets used for digital literacy classes.
The devices (tablets) were delivered to the school under the Digital Learning Programme.
The head teacher said the robbers gained access to the deputy head teacher’s office after cutting the window grill.
County commander Titus Yoma confirmed the killing but referred The Star to Nyando OCPD Amin Mohammed for more information.
However, Mohammed declined to comment on the matter saying Yoma should give comments.
“He has all the information. We were with him. Talk to him,” he said on phone.
Awasi-Onjiko MCA Maurice Ongeta asked police to probe the killing and the theft at the school.
Ongeta said security should be beefed up in learning institutions to prevent such cases.
“We want sub-county and county chiefs to wake up and ensure the safety of residents and their property.”
Residents asked Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to take action against officers they accused of laxity in responding to crime.
