Eight people among them seven police officers were injured following an accident at Sattelite area on the Mai Mahiu-Narok road.
The officers attached to the SGR unit were on their way to work when the lorry ferrying them belonging to the Chinese contractor carrying out the project was hit by a private vehile.
According to an eye witness Joseph Njoroge, close to twenty officers were in the ill fated lorry heading to work at the Suswa SGR site when a private vehicle belonging to a senior Nakuru county government official hit them.
He said the driver of the lorry lost control and rolled several times before residents who were going about their business rescued them.
“The county government official who was heading to Mai Mahiu from Suswa was overtaking a fleet of vehicles when he hit the lorry head on,” he said.
The accident caused a major traffic snarl-up at the busy highway before police officers from Mai Mahiu police station arrived to restore order.
