Deputy President William Ruto has stated that the Jubilee party is ready for repeat polls in the next 60 days.
The DP also castigated Opposition leaders for plotting to oust the current IEBC officials on allegations of malpractice in the elections.
This is after the Supreme Court overturned President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win in the August 8 polls.
The DP said the court overturned the ‘win for the people of Kenya’ insisting President Uhuru won the elections fairly.
He assured that the Jubilee will get over 70+1 per cent in the repeat elections.
He spoke at the State House on Saturday where he addressed Jubilee elected leaders.
“We are not going to succumb to pressure from the Courts, we won the election fair and square. The Supreme court has had their day, ours is coming and we will scrutinize everything. We respect the rule of law but we are not stupid. We will have the election is 60 days and they better be prepared,” Ruto stated.
Ruto alleged that the Opposition is not ready for elections.
He said the government will not be swayed towards forming a joint government.
“The Supreme court cannot determine who rules this country, we will have no grand coalition and the election will be conducted by IEBC, we will not have the Opposition playing around with us over disbandment of IEBC,” he said.
“There is no way that Jubilee won majority seats in MCAs, MPs, Senators, Governors and Women representatives then tell us we did not win the Presidential seat, how possible is that?” Ruto asked.
Addressing a press conference in Nairobi, the Jubilee leaders-MP and governors said the opposition should respect the Supreme Court ruling that nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory in the just concluded general election.
“We respect totally the decision that has been given by Supreme Court. We are ready, we are eager to go back to the grassroots. We will traverse this country and for the record, forget the 54 percent we got in the concluded election, this time round jubilee is going to sweep the votes with at least 70 plus votes,” Kindiki said.
