A director of payments at the Office of the President (OP) has been charged in a Nairobi court over gun drama at Rafikiz Lounge in Langata area.
Nicholas Gitumbi Wambugi, a director of payment section at the OP who presented himself before Milimani chief magistrate Francis Andayi denied the criminal charge leveled against him by the state.
The magistrate had first issued a warrant of arrest for Gitumbi on August 11,2017 and forfeited his Sh 50,000 police cash bail after failing to attend court as he was required to plead to the charges against him.
The case was then fixed for mention last Friday so as to appear in court for purpose of taking plea in the criminal case when he presented himself in evening and pleaded not guilty.
The charges against Gitumbi states that on August 10,2017 at Rafikiz Bar and Restaurant in Langata Sub- county, Nairobi county Gitumbi being a firearm licensed behaved in a disorderly manner in public by discharging a live ammunition.
According to police Gitumbi who is a licensed gun holder was in the company of two women at Rafikiz Lounge on August 10 2017 when he misbehaved in public by firing one live bullet from his gun.
He was, however, released on cash bail of Sh 500,000 pending the hearing of the case on September 14.
