The United States, US government has said its eyes were set on Kenya’s Supreme Court, on the way it will conduct presidential election petition based solely on evidence tendered in court and in accordance with the law.
U.S Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec said, with the independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) having played its role in conducting, and delivering the presidential election, the buck stopped with the Supreme Court deliver transparent verdict on the presidential petition filed by NASA principals.
Godec however said it was a wise move for the National Super Alliance to seek redress at the Supreme Court instead of taking to the streets for demonstrations.
“The Supreme Court is the proper constitutional venue to resolve the presidential election disputes, courts and judges have a central responsibility for protecting the rule of law and delivering justice, however with this right comes a responsibility to judge fairly and in accordance with the constitution and the facts tabled in court,” said Godec.
He was addressing members of the law society of Kenya annual conference at leisure lodge resort in Kwale County on Thursday.
