A total of 233 police officers have been transferred in the latest reshuffle by the National Police Service.
The officers in the ranks of Chief Inspector (CI) and Inspector of Police (IP) are drawn from different police formations majority of them station commanders.
Others are from Traffic Department, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Kenya Airport Police Unit (Kapu), General Service Unit and General Duty officers.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kenya Police Service Joel Kitili approved the reshuffle vide a circular dated August 23, 2017.
Kitili directed all officers to be in their new work stations by September 7.
“Release the officers to report by September 7, 2017.” Kitili said.
Among those moved include Kendu Bay Officer Commanding Station Simon Peter who has been moved to Kisii County headquarters, Keroka OCS Pius Kiprono has been posted to Mutomo while Siaya Traffic base commander Julius Mutembei will take over in Vihiga in the same capacity.
Hardy Police Station OCS within Karen Police Division Kisela Mwikya has been posted to Vigilance House, police headquarters under directorate of operations.
Muchongoi OCS within Baringo County Michael Ochara has been transferred to Dog Unit while his Funyula counterpart in Busia County will serve in the same capacity at Harmey Police Station in Garissa. Bumala OCS Albert Kipchumba has been posted to Mandera in the same capacity and will be replaced by Daniel Osano, who has been the Officer Commanding Police Post at Mutarakwa in Kiambu county.
Embakasi deputy OCS and Parklands deputy OCS Agnes Mbache and Francis Gathete have been posted to Mwea and Turkana respectively.
Matuu Traffic base commander Ahamed Mohamed Sirat will now be the new Bomet deputy base commander to replace Pamela Mwita who has been moved to Nairobi traffic patrol section.
The changes are meant to improve efficiency at station level where is the basic link between the citizen and the national Police Service.
Overtime, there has been complaints of mishandling of cases, distortion of evidence and manipulation of records at station level that water down evidence threshold for cases forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko for prosecution.
Other officers were transferred for overstaying in one station or as a disciplinary move while others have been promoted.
