A Sh10 billion contract to develop infrastructure in Kwale County through Public Private Partnership has been signed.

The contract was signed by Wengfu Engineering and Contracting Company, a Chinese firm and Shelter Solutions Ltd.

The signing was witnessed by various government agencies, ranging from the Office of the President’s Delivery Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives and Lungalunga MP elect Khatib Mwashetani among others.

The contract is the first phase of a 25 year 63 billion dollars project dubbed Shimoni Integrated Development Project (SIDEP).

The first phase is meant to develop all Kwale County roads (classified and non classified) to bitumen standard before embarking on the ambitious multiple layered initiative that is set to revolutionize the County’s economy.

All these roads will be using green energy Solar Power and a Total of 340,000 LED Solar Street lights with CCTV cameras.

Munganga said the entire road network is set to cover 1,809 Kilometres.
