Singer Jose Chameleone reunites with son in American hospital
In the recent months, Ugandan music superstar Jose Chameleone (real name Joseph Mayanja) has been going through a rough patch on matters health.
A few weeks ago, his US-based eldest son Abba Marcus Mayanja took to social media platform TikTok where he called him (Chameleone) out for drinking alcohol, a factor that had allegedly deteroriated his health.
However, the two seems to get on well, after they were reunited in a hospital in the US.
The Badilisha hit singer, through the help of his family, was recently flown out of Kampala to America for treatment.
In a video that has since now gone viral, the 45-year-old artiste is seen being taken care of by Abba at the hospital.
“Time is a healer. Thank you everyone who has taken the thought to hold me in prayer and wish me well – Asante sana,” Chameleone wrote.
In another post, the singer and Leone Island founder thanked those who have been with him in hospital saying: “Thank you to all of you who are taking time to wish me a quick and healthy recovery. The Doctors are doing their best and I am also trying as best as i can. @fredzink1 @weasel_manizo @abbamarcus @julietzawedde Thank you again for encouraging me. Love you all.”
In the TikTok video, Abba shared his frustration over his father’s condition.
He said: “My father struggles with alcohol addiction and has been for a while now, hence the weight loss that people have been talking about. It completely disheartens me when I see the internet bashing my mother, making her the cause of everything. I am here to tell you that is completely false. My mother has nothing to do with it.”
Abba added, “Never in my life have I ever seen unconcerned parents that are so careless about their children’s well-being. In this case, I am talking about my father’s parents. So far, I have already lost two uncles because of complete irresponsibility. Honestly, I don’t even want to be called their grandchild because I don’t want any association with them. Nobody would know who the Mayanjas were if it wasn’t for my father.”
He also urged his fans to work together to get his father the help that he needed.
“I am very infuriated with my father because I feel like he makes selfish decisions. I have four siblings, and he still needs to be alive to take care of them. He has been told time and time again that this is a habit that needs to slow down for him to have a long life. It pains me that he still chose to drink and ruin his pancreas despite knowing this,” he said. acute pancreatitis, a condition that can be caused by long-term alcohol use.
