Massive transfers as rugby clubs seek strenght in January window
As the rugby season resumes this Saturday, the Kenya Cup teams have been busy in the transfer market with additions and a couple of movements across the league featuring 74 players.
The mid-season transfer that was open mid last month saw record 95 players registered altogether in the Kenya Cup, KRU Championship and Women’s Kenya Cup.
Ngong Road-based clubs, Kenya Harlequins RFC and Impala RFC, were some of the busiest in the market with Quins bringing onboard 11 new faces while neighbours Saracens Impala brought nine players.
Defending Kenya Cup champions’ Kabras Sugar RFC only had three additions in the shape of Samuel Omollo off Catholic University Monks, Edmond Angoya from Kabarak University and Michael Okello from Mwamba RFC.
Multiple Champions KCB RFC also known famously as the Lions have on their part snapped four star players to add weight to their play as they try to wrestle the title back from Kabras.
The players joining the Lions Den include; Dominic Sande (Daystar Falcons), Jenkins Kipruto (Kabarak University) John Bax Ochieng (Kenyatta University Blakblad) and Michael Korir (Zetech University). The Bankers have largely maintained their squad in keeping with consistency.
