Azziad: I struggled mentally in 2024
Content creator, radio presenter and media influencer Azziad Nasenya has shared her struggles with mental health revealing this year took quite a toll on her.
Despite the struggles, 2024 has simultaneously been a great year for the 24-year-old bringing her abundant blessings and opening new paths for her.
Speaking about her mental health in a video posted on her TikTok page, she revealed that she’d been hospitalised for close to a month with her specialist advising she takes time off social media and her phone in general during the said time period.
“I was not allowed to go outside under the doctor’s supervision, and for the past two to three weeks, I have not been on my phone,” the budding actress shared.
Azziad went on to add that her mental state had deteriorated to such alarming rates hence why the isolation was really necessary.
She noted she was sharing her journey so as to remind people that mental health issues aren’t something to be embarrassed of regardless of the stigma surrounding the topic.
She added that having low moments was a just a way of life and should be given room.
“I have not posted, I have not been on WhatsApp, I have not done anything because it was necessary. That was one of the dangers to me. I was taking care of my mental health. It was bad; it’s been a rollercoaster; it has been a ride. I am just telling you this to tell you that it is normal. It is life,” Azziad said.
She also insisted on the importance of slowing down and taking breathers whenever necessary so as to avoid the heaviness that comes with a burnout.
“When you need to take a break to work on yourself, please do… It has been a crazy year. This has been the year that I had a lot of wins and a lot of downs; I made a lot of good and bad decisions. Good financial mistakes, bad financial mistakes. Good friends and bad friends, and in the middle of trying to find myself, I’ve found people who did everything out of their way to help me,” she said.
