Police are investigating a suicide incident committed at the Kenyatta National Hospital after a patient overwhelmed by a hospital bill jumped to his death.
Thirty nine year old Chege Kiarie committed double tragedy three days after he was discharged but was allegedly detained over uncleared medical bill.
Today, KNH Chief Executive Officer Lily Koros and communications officer Simon Ithai did not divulge the outstanding medical bill accumulated by the deceased or if indeed he was restricted from
leaving the facility after failing to raise the money.
But according to inside hospital sources, the deceased was admitted for five days.
“He was admitted on August 9 and discharged on 14 August. He jumped from the seventh floor.” A hospital attendant said.
However, the CEO did not respond to our queries.
Meanwhile, in Nairobi’s Utawala estate, detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are investigating the death of a 27 years old lady whose body was found dangling from the roof of her bathroom.
Preliminary police findings indicate possible case of suicide since the house was locked from inside.
A caretaker of the commercial flat notified the police after noticing a foul smell emanating from the house.
Her body has since been moved to City Mortuary for autopsy analysis and positive identification.
And in crime prone Majengo slum within Shauri Moyo, police shot dead an armed gangster and recovered a Beretta Pistol loaded with three rounds of ammunition.
The gunman was robbing pedestrians at gunpoint while in company of two others who managed to escape.
