Bunge FC plays NMG FC in warm-up match ahead of EAC Inter-Parliamentary games
Bunge FC comprising Members of Parliament drawn from the National Assembly and the Senate has today held an electrifying warm-up match against the Nation Media Group (NMG) FC.
The match, which is part of Bunge FC’s preparatory exercises ahead of the upcoming East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games, to be hosted by Kenya later this month was played at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
During the games, the NMG team won by three goals against Bunge FC’s two goals.
The goals from the Bunge FC team were scored by team Co-captain, Senate Majority Leader and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.
Fellow team co-captain, and Rarieda Member of Parliament (MP) Otiende Amollo (Senior Counsel) noted Bunge FC was better prepared having been practicing throughout the year, with new sign ins from among more Kenyan MPs who had joined the men soccer team.
“This year we are happy to host this tournament and we ask Kenyans to come in large numbers and cheer us up. We are better prepared this time and we are going for nothing short of the trophy.” Amollo said.
Senator Cheruiyot noted that the upcoming games were a critical stride in hastening the EAC regional integration beginning with the convergence of the eight constitutive Legislatures of the Community.
“We will have interactions within and outside the pitch. Some of the people we will be playing against are actually serious senior policy and decision makers in their respective countries. We look forward to hastening the integration process through these games.” Senator Cheruiyot noted.
Bunge FC emerged third in the last tournament and now eyes the top slot, with the home ground advantage as Kenya hosts the games in Mombasa County from December 6, 2024 to December 18, 2024.
