The Co-operative Bank yesterday opened a new branch in Eldama Ravine making it the 32nd branch in Rift Valley in a move aimed at bringing banking services closer to the people.
Last month, Co-op Bank opened a new branch in Marimanti, Tharaka Nithi county as it seeks to boost its physical presence and a commanding lead as the financial institution of choice in the country.
Yesterday’s opening ceremony was presided over by Eldama Ravine Member of Parliament (MP) Musa Sirma accompanied by Baringo county government County Executive Member (CEC) for Finance Wilson Cheserek who was representing Baringo governor Benjamin Cheboi.
Also present was area Member of County Assembly Julius Ngotie.
The function steered by Board of Directors Member, Director Julius Sitienei.
“Co-op Bank has a strong leadership position in Kenya and its presence in Baringo county is a mark of its strong commitment to service to Kenyans and particularly the Co-operative movement.” The bank said through a post on X.
Earlier this week, Co-op Bank opened a fourth branch in Eldoret City along Airport Road.
In March this year, the tier 1 commercial lender announced plans to solidify its commanding foothold in the country and lined up to unveil fifteen new branches this year including the newly opned Luanda Branch.
The planned expansion will see the bank improve on its physical presence and number of outlets across the country thus brining financial services closer to the people.
The 15 branches will add to the eight opened last year and five in 2022.
As of September 2023, Co-op Bank had 193 branches countrywide.
Already, Co-op Bank has opened one branch in Ugunja town in Siaya county and will this month be opening another one in Imaara Shopping Mall in Nairobi along the Mombasa Road at the entrance to Nairobi’s Imara Daima estate.
