A wanted JCM pastor Elias Njau Mutugi accused of stabbing Nakuru businesswoman and his fiancé Florence Wanjiku has surrendered to police following a horrific attack a few days ago.
JCM church is associated with Radio presenter Reverend Muthee Kiengei.
Kiengei was an ordained African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) church priest before forming his own church, JCM, which is located in Kamakis, Ruiru, Kiambu county.
Mutugi, the prime suspect in the attempted murder of Wanjiku had gone into hiding.
According to police, Mutugi surrendered at the Menengai Police Station in the company of his lawyer.
His arrest comes days after he has been on the Police radar for attempting to murder his girlfriend by stabbing her leaving her critically injured.
He has been at large since last Thursday night when he allegedly committed the crime at their Kiamunyi home in Rongai Sub-County.
Wanjiku, who co-invests with Mutugi in real estate, is hospitalized under tight security as she nurses her injuries.
“The suspect surrendered at Nakuru Police Station in the company of his lawyer from Gakuhi Chege and Associates Advocates,” the National Police Service (NPS) said.
The attempted murder was reported at Kiamunyi Police Post in Nakuru on Friday. Preliminary investigations established that the victim was attacked by her boyfriend Elias Njeru Mutugi, who is also her business associate at Indigenous Land Properties Limited.
“The incident happened at their rental house in Olive area following domestic wrangles. She is currently admitted to a hospital in serious condition.” Police added.
The attack has been condemned by leaders from the county who are calling for a speedy dispensation of justice for Wanjiku.
“We will stand with the family and when the security agents are done with the investigation, we volunteer on pro bono to hold brief for her family.” Gender Principal Secretary (PS) Anna Wangombe said.
