Nyali Member of parliament (MP) Mohamed Ali yesterday appeared before the National Assembly Petitions Committee, to shed more light on his petition regarding the alleged proliferation of LGBTQ relations in the country.
During the meeting Ali, explained that he had petitioned the Nationally Assembly to deal with the issue following complaints from the public and the clergy on the upsurge in LGTBTQ relationships and campaigns to force the habit on Kenyans.
The MP, who has previously led demonstrations against LGBTQ at the Coast, told the Committee Members that he was worried that some Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) with the ulterior motives to force same sex relationships on Kenyans secretly funding the same in the country under the cover of community work.
He said his petition has the backing of diverse religious organizations, as same sex marriages are forbidden in most Kenyan religious practices and culture.
Ali, warned that the culture, if allowed to spread, threatened not only the cultural future of the country, its youthful population and the institution of marriage.
During the meeting, the MP also indicated that lawyers supporting LGBTQ had sued him in court in an attempt to stop his campaign against same sex relationships.
