Milimani Chief Magistrate court will on September 16, 2024 deliver a ruling deciding whether two criminal cases facing a middle-aged man masquerading as lawyer will be consolidated.
According to the prosecution, one criminal case is pending before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina while another similar case is pending before Chief Magistrate court in Makandara.
The accused Brian Mwenda was charged in the year 2023 having committed an offence of filing applications, representing litigants by pretending that is a lawyer admitted to the bar to practice this as an advocate of the High court.
The accused’s defence lawyer did apply to have the matters consolidated for easy case management.
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has since denied that Mwenda’s name does not appear in the register containing advocates who have been admitted to practice as lawyers.
