The Director Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin’s office has applied to the court seeking fourteen days custodial to hold five police officers who allegedly assisted 13 remandees to escape from lawful custody at Gigiri Police Station in Nairobi.
Prosecuting counsel James Gachoka told duty Magistrate Martha Nazushi that the investigative team requires 14 days to complete their investigations, and it is the five who can assist to have the 13 escapees arrested.
Among those who escaped includes the notorious Collins namaisi who were detained at Gigiri police station pending the investigations over the murders that occurred in Kware.
The officers include Corporal of Police Ronald Babo,constables Evans kipkirui ,mollent Achieng, Zachary Nyabuto, and Gerald mutuku.
The court will endeavour to deliver a ruling tomorrow, August 22, 2024 to make a determination as to whether DCI will be allowed to hold the suspects for 14 days.
