A city businessman was today arraigned and charged with conspiracy to defraud a Sh50million land in Nairobi’s Karen area belonging to former Baringo Member of Parliament (MP) Sammy Komen Mwaita.
The accused, Howard Mugambi Mururu appeared before trial Magistrate Susan Shitubi.
He, however, could not plead to the criminal charges levelled against him as his defence counsel strongly opposed by saying that it is a pending civil litigation before environment and land court.
The court heard that the accused did cause the registration of the parcel of land in question to be registered under his name.
The trial court directed that it will deliver his ruling on September 5, 2024 as to whether the accused will answer to the criminal charges levelled against him.
The magistrate ordered the accused to deposit a cash bail of Sh100,000 to allow him to secure his release, pending the ruling.
