Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot has resigned.
Barorot made the announcement today after a meeting with senior county staff and Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii at Eka Hotel in Eldoret with a formal announcement expected to be made shortly at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters.
The DG’s resignation comes two days after he dismissed claims of his resignation from office.
The claims emerged on Thursday last week after the now former DG skipped president William Ruto’s event for conferring City status to Eldoret sparking speculation over his whereabouts.
In an interview with local media, Bororot had termed the reports on his resignation as rumors but did not explain why he was absent from the key event in the city.
There has been speculation over his working relationship with Governor Bii but two weeks ago during a prayer meeting at the county headquarters, governor Bii told the gathering that Barorot was on leave.
“Sorry, I forgot to tell you that our Deputy Governor engineer Barorot is not with us here because he is on leave but we are together in all this.” The governor said.
Engineer Barorot missed almost all preparations for the elevation of Eldoret to City status except one where he praised the role of the media in branding and marketing the new city.
Barorot is known to be a very reserved person who embraces a simple lifestyle and most of the time drives himself in the town.
The two had a close working relationship when they took over including attending functions together.
