A somber mood engulfed Pandya Memorial Hospital in Mombasa County as family members and friends of St. Augustine Preparatory School pupil who was crushed by a school bus was picked from the mortuary for burial in Kitui County.
The deceased’s grandmother, Shali Masila, friends and relatives called for speedy investigations and justice even as the body was taken for memorial service at St Joseph Catholic in Tudor in Mombasa island, before being transported for burial in Kitui Central today (Saturday, July 29).
The late Jeremy Masila was together with his school mates as they were being ferried to school in a bus when he fell through a hole on the base of the bus floor and crushed to death last Friday.
The family described the deceased as an industrious boy who had lifted the name of the school to the national levels in Music festivals further lamenting the school management’s negligence during this period.
St Augustine Preparatory School Headteacher and four others have since been arraigned at Mombasa High Court and charged with the murder of the pupil that occurred on July 21, 2017.
Mombasa human rights activist led by Haki Africa CEO Hussein Khalid alongside family members have called on the Judiciary and police to ensure justice prevails.
