Police in Nairobi are investigating a gun drama incident involving the bodyguard attached to Makueni governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior outside the private office in the capital.
An investigation police report findings seen by The Informer Media Group show the incident happened along Muchai Drive off Ngong’ Road.
However, no one was injured and Mutula was not present when the shooting happened.
The bodyguard told police he was outside the office waiting for Mutula’s arrival when he was robbed of his mobile phone which he was using to communicate with the security team approaching the office.
He said they were two men on a motorcycle.
They then sped off after the snatch which promoted him to shoot in the air to scare them but they did not stop.
It is then that he hopped on a motorcycle that was nearby and gave a chase in vain.
The two vanished into a crowd, prompting the bodyguard to again shoot in the air twice.
No injuries were reported but a hunt on the two is ongoing.
According to the detectives’ team that visited the scene, the incident was a normal robbery and was not targeting the governor.
When contacted by The Informer Media Group, governor Mutula did not respond to calls and text messages over the gun drama.
There has been skyrocketing cases of gangland style armed attacks by a motorbike robbery syndicate in Nairobi CBD and within the estates with marauding gangs targeting and snatching mobile phones from the city residents.
