Equity Dumas head coach Carrey Odhiambo is not impressed by their run in the regular season as the team now shifts its attention to the playoffs that will culminate in the selection of a champion.
According to Odhiambo, the Dumas didn’t put up a good show in a number of matches, thus dropping points. `
The Bankers defeated Ulinzi Warriors 61-57 on Friday before defeating ANU Wolfpacks 53-59 on Sunday at the Nyayo Gymnasium, Nairobi as the curtains fell on the regular season
“We played well and I don’t think we wanted to finish where we finished but it is what it is. Two games we lost against USIU Tigers and the one against Umoja, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Nairobi City Thunder; those were winnable games. We didn’t get the results that we wanted but we just have to move on and focus on playoffs which we don’t know when they will be but we might start next weekend on Friday against the Ulinzi Warriors in the quarter finals playoffs.” He said.
He added that: “We have to be ready for them as they are a serious team and it will be a competitive match which requires a lot of preparations and planning which we are going to do.” Odhiambo noted.
Elsewhere, ANU Wolfpacks and Panthers head coach Michael Oluoch says his teams didn’t play well at the weekend and will have to rectify the mistakes made ahead of the penultimate playoffs faceoff.
ANU Panthers lost 27-67 and 43-64 to Equity Hawks, USIU Flames on Saturday and Sunday respectively, in the women’s premier league while ANU Wolfpacks lost 38-51 and 53-59 to USIU Tigers and Equity Dumas on Saturday and Sunday respectively in the means’ premier league matches.
“The games didn’t go as we had hoped for although we played very well but we had a lot of mistakes here and there. The good thing is that we had corrected the mistakes we had in the previous games which is a good thing. We have a good plan and a good preparation for the playoffs and we are hoping everything will work out well for us and we will have very positive and good results moving forward.” Oluoch said.
