Former Devolution cabinet secretary Ann Waiguru today was rescued by police after irate youth attacked her campaign entourage at Kibingo shopping centre Kirinyaga county.

Police had to fire several times on the air to rescue the beleaguered Jubilee governor candidate from rowdy youth baying for her blood accusing her of being mean with money.

Hell broke loose when more than 500 Kibingo residents who had attended her meeting demanded to be given Sh200 instead of Sh100 being offered.

The youth violently rejected to take the money terming it as peanuts claiming Waiguru has a lot of money and yet she’s offering peanuts.

They vowed not to take the money with some accusing her of plundering National Youth Service millions of shillings and yet she gives them Sh100 which can’t cater for their supper.

“We want National Youth Service money, we want to enjoy the same way you are enjoying our money which you took from NYS,” said the agitated youth.

The situation get out of hand when the youths started hauling stones to the vehicles accompanying the Jubilee candidates shattering their windscreens.

Her running mate Peter Ndambiri also found himself in the danger when the youths tried to overturn his Toyota V8.

Several vehicles were damaged with some getting their wheels punctured before police intervened.

Anti-riot police were immediately deployed to quell the violence which had degenerated to full blown chaos.

This was the second incident for the former powerful CS to encounter with unruly youths.

On Tuesday she received hostile reception at Gatugura shopping centre, Gichugu constituency when her supporters tried to give out Sh100 to the chagrin of residents.

Some rowdy youth snatched the cash and fled with it.
