Song and dance greeted the Co-operative Bank of Kenya Head of Marketing and Communication Ngumo Kahiga when he arrived at Imani Rehabilitation Center dubbed Imani Rehabilitation Agency to present a van on behalf of the bank valued at Sh5million.
Speaking after handing over the van, said that one of the intentions of the bank is to take part in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to help the vulnerable in society.
“Co-operative Bank of Kenya has donated a Sh5million16-seater Van to Imani Rehabilitation Center to facilitate the transportation of sick children to and from Ngong town to Kenyatta National hospital. The rehabilitation center supports abandoned children from across the country. Previous to this donation, the children were using public means which were a challenge because of their special needs.” The bank said through an update on X, formerly Twitter.
Kahiga presented the van to Gillian Njeru, the General Manager of the center and Stephen Soita, Operations Manager respectively.
Imani Rehabilitation Agency was established in 1990 and registered in 1992.
So far, Imani Rehabilitation Agency has grown to seven outposts caring for over 300 vulnerable children, five of them in Nairobi county and one each in Kajiado and Malindi.
Imani A and Imani Babies Unit are located in Soweto Kayole, Imani B is situated in Kayole Matopeni, Imani Girls in Kasarani while Imani Ngong is in Ngong town.
Imani Babies Unit provides care to more than 60 babies aged from one day to 3 years old, Imani A cares for 40 children aged from 4 to 18 years while Imani B is home to 60 children aged between 3 and 14 years.
Imani Ngong Centre hosts children who have either been physically or sexually abused while Imani Malindi caters for children with special needs.
