A four-day pause in the fighting between Israel and Hamas is expected to begin now.
Israel and Hamas are expected to begin a four-day fighting pause.
If accomplished, this will mark the first successful pause seven weeks after the war started.
The temporary ceasefire agreement also includes the release of 50 women and children, some of the around 240 people taken hostage by Hamas during their attacks last year.
The first group to be freed among the thirteen groups that are held hostage is expected to be 4:00 pm (14:00GMT) later today.
Israel is expected to release 150 Palestinian women and teenagers held in its prisons in return.
The pause will bring relief to approximately 2.2 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, with a promise of more aid into the enclave under the deal.
Fighting was continuing up until the final few moments – I could hear the distant booms of mortar fire on the phone to my colleague Anna Foster in Sderot, close to the border with Gaza.
Israel has however said this is not the end of the war and the government has vowed to complete its mission to eliminate Hamas and return all hostages.
Hamas, which Israel, the US, and other Western powers class as a terrorist organization – has said the deal will give Palestinians time to recover after an intense Israeli air and ground assault which its government in Gaza says has killed more than 14,500 people.
