The Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja’s aide Osman Khalif who had been missing for over a week appeared yesterday in public.
The former South C member of the county assembly came out in public with senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi.
Abdullahi claimed Osman was tortured by his abductors while in captivity.
Osman was released by his abductors on Friday last week.
He was allegedly abducted by unknown people outside a mall.
Yesterday, the counsel claimed Osman was abducted by the police and they were under the instructions of a powerful politician.
He added that the said politician has special officers from his tribe who work under his command.
“Osman, the former MCA for South C, was abducted by policemen under the command of a powerful politician two weeks ago. Osman visited me in my law chambers today and narrated his heart-wrenching ordeal. They held him for 8 days and tortured him brutally. Apparently, this powerful politician has special policemen from his tribe under his command who are independent of the normal police command structure.” Ahmednasir said.
The lawyer added that he thought cases of abduction had ended with the previous regime expressing his worry that it is still happening in Ruto’s government.
Ahmednassir called for an independent investigation of Osman’s case and the abductors brought to book.
“This is a very worrying trend and president William Ruto must come openly and address this troublesome event of Osman and tell Kenyans why they are being abducted. It is worrying because Kenyans are being abducted, held for weeks, tortured, and then released. Osman’s case must be independently investigated and his abductors brought to book. We thought abduction ended the day the term of Uhuru Kenyatta ended…or…” He added.
Previously, the police led by Nairobi head of regional Director of Criminal Investigation Peter Njeru denied the claims saying they got reports of the abduction after the wife of Osman made a report at Parklands police station.
