Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has defended President Ruto’s 39 foreign trips saying they have improved the relationship between the countries across the world.
Mwaura said Kenya has gotten over Sh2trillion worth of benefits since the assumption of office by the Kenya Kwanza government in September last year.
He said Ruto has signed various international deals.
While giving the achievements of the government, Mwaura cited the investment Kenya has received from countries like the United Kingdom, the United States and China.
“If you have Sh900 billion investment in our country, it is going to be a game-changer. The biggest project they have is the railway city here in Nairobi that is going to revolutionize our urban transport system.” Mwaura stated.
Further Mwaura outlined the signing of Sh8.7billion with the United States Millennium Change Corporation (MCC) which will finance the acquisition of electric buses for the Bus Rapid System (BRT) system.
He says the signings of the Memorandum of Understanding in trade, ICT, energy, transport, education, labor, and security have opened up more business opportunities.
“If we have 350,000 Kenyans going abroad imagine the kind of money that is being sent home if we are currently getting about Sh750 billion from Kenyans abroad,” he said.
During his inaugural press conference, Mwaura said the government is working hard to ensure the cost of living gets down in the next one to two years.
He says it is because of the huge debt unsustainable debt that was left by the previous regime that the government has been unable to do some of the things they promised but they will as they are working hard to stabilize the economy in the next one or two years.
